The SEP Ectopic Pregnancy learning module is an extension product to SEP Basic.
The SEP Ectopic Pregnancy learning module focuses on training the removal of the embryo with minimal risk of
injury to the surrounding structures. A camera exercise with either 0° or 30° camera angles is included.
Removal of an ectopic pregnancy is a common procedure in the early phase of a laparoscopic gynecologist`s
career. It is an advantage to be able to try the procedure in a virtual environment before taking on the first
patient. As well as training on the removal of the embryo, the module gives an insight into the following
procedural steps:
OR Setup
Learn about patient, team and equipment setup for optimal access and to obtain a clear view to the monitors.
Port Placement
Learn about optimal placement of trocars, choices of instruments and the importance of these decisions.
Exploration
Determine location and conditions with a 0° or 30° camera. Inspect and detect possible abnormalities.
Exposure
Learn about exposure of relevant anatomical structures by placing the patient in the Trendelenburg position.
Ectopic Pregnancy
Learn how to get access to the pelvis and either incise the affected fallopian tube and remove the pregnancy
(Salpingostomy), or remove the affected fallopian tube with the pregnancy (Salpingectomy). You may choose to
perform both procedures on the left or right fallopian tube.
