SimSurgery has patented worldwide its core technology. This covers the mathematical methods used to represent the virtual models of the suture and the organs, the calculation of their correct physical shape and the methods for changing their geometry and topology due to interactions with the surroundings. The patents also cover the key elements of the physical interface SimPack, which makes the interface especially user-friendly.

Many of the names denoting the SEP software modules and hardware components, as well as several names connected to the company itself, are trademarked.
