SEP Robot

A learning tool for robotic surgery.

The SEP-Robot simulator offers an effective, safe, and cost efficient solution for training robotic surgery. Whereas training on the real robot requires a full setup of the complete telemanipulatory system, using SEP-Robot requires less time and people. In addition it will not harm the robotic system. The SEP-Robot simulator can run with other SEP simulators on the same SEP surgical hardware platform.

The SEP-Robot simulator offers the following:

• Training of robotic surgical skills
• Training of two handed 6+1 degree of freedom
• Training of hand-eye coordination

The simulator offers the training of basic and advanced skill exercises organized into the following groups:

• Tissue manipulation - 6 exercises
• Basic suturing - 7 exercises
• Advanced suturing - 8 exercises

"Training robot assisted anastomosis suturing using a virtual reality simulator without additional training equals training using a mechanical simulator. Virtual reality training can replace the standard way of training during the early part of training".
